Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
I cannot say I have ever been in many pawnshops in my lifetime. Really the only time I can remember going to one was when I was probably sixteen or so. My cousin and I were hooked on this video game at an arcade. It was called Kung-fu master. We thought we was the best we played it so much. Even got our names on the board several times. We could play doubles, but each time it would cost 25 cents. We would stay for hours on end so it would take all our money. One Friday morning my cousin told me he was broke, and I was always broke, so he said take this Lava lamp to the pawnshop and get some money for it. And I did just that. Afterall, we need money. In short, I ended up receiving ten dollars for that item, and I was quite pleased with it. He was not happy with me. It seems it cost him $60.00 new. How was I supposed to know. Kung-Fu Master was waiting.
As I think about that past in my life, I also think about the times God’s own people treat Him like a pawnshop. You see a pawn shop takes items that no one really wants anymore. These are people that are looking for something else for their life. We are living in such a critical time that people are searching for answers, they are searching for something new. No one is ever happy anymore. They move from one thing to another. Drop and go as I call it. From one church to another. From one marriage to another. From one ministry to another. From one Pastor to another. Just take it to the Pawnshop of life and leave it. It seems easier to do it this way and sometimes it is. But it was never meant to be easy. Sin has made sure of that. There seems to be a lot of people that are seeking and searching but when they do not get the fair deal in their eyes it is too easy to take a trip to the pawnshop.
But what does God think? I did not say what anyone else thought. But what about God. Does He agree with you? Where along the line did, we forget that God is still present in this World, and in our lives. Seek ye first…Not the pawnshop. Not your friends. But seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. You know what that means in North Carolina language? It means that your life and mine are all about Him. Look up, as that’s where everything begins and ends. Life pawnshops have nothing for us but a bunch of junk that no one else wanted. What you have is straight from above and no one, but God should ever change that. I like to say to my wife a lot that it’s Gods business what He wants. Not mine. Does God rule your life today? If not, it’s not too late. Let’s put the pawnshop of your life OUT OF BUSINESS. Our God don’t sell junk.
