Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
Today, and today only, David Aldridge will reveal to the world one of my deepest, and darkest secrets of all time in my life. So deep that it hurts to say out loud. Probably only my wife knows this about me. And that is only because she lives with me. Shares almost everything with me except my Mountain Dew of course. (That’s for me only) This may make you feel differently about me, but I must get this off my chest. I cannot do this anymore. So here goes. Please sit down and read these next few words.
I, David Aldridge, am IMPATIENT.
Wow. I feel so much better. The secret is out. I am really going to sleep tonight. I admit it. I cannot handle the slow red lights in Maryland. They seem to know when I am in that State. I do not like waiting for an hour at a restaurant to get my food that will eventually break the bank to pay for. And I certainly do not want to wait for help at the local Hardware store in which they will tell me to look at the website to find where that item is. And then proceed to the checkout in which I will yet again need to check myself out. My name is David Aldridge and I am IMPATIENT… And torqued up all at the same time. And all this as I must remember that I am a Christian and a preacher for God.

But as I think about my life in general, I must admit that I am impatient with God as well at times. It can sometimes be so overwhelming waiting for God to move in a certain situation in our lives. We are Burger King Christian’s. We want it our way. We want it immediately. It can be so hard sometimes. At times God answers us right away. And other times it takes years. Ever ask yourself when is it going to be enough? How many years must go by? King David would wait for about twenty years to rule over all of Israel after being anointed by Samuel. Noah would preach for 120 years and never see anyone saved. Sarah would wait for 90 years to have her first child. And we think we have it bad. But through it all look at how God blessed every situation when it was on His time. The Bible verse above, which is given to us By God himself, tells us that He makes everything beautiful in His time. And I love this, but He goes on to say that we cannot fully understand His entire plan from start to finish. That is why it must be His time. So, I would like to call our first meeting today of IMPATIENT 101. And remind you and me that God’s got this. And when He is done it’s all going to be beautiful. And all God’s people said…
