Genesis 1:1-2

IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

If you turn on the news these days you will find a lot of negative news stories compared to positive. Just look on social media and you find much more of the same. Psychologists tell us that our minds have now been transformed to wanting to hear negative vs positive. If this is correct and I believe it is, where is the hope or where do you turn? What do you do?

If people in general are going to have this thinking that this world is just dark all the time, is there any hope? Where does it leave the local church or a child of God? Will the darkness ever move over some may ask, or will it ever give way to light? All great questions. Eventually for those who saved by the shed blood of Jesus Christ will reunite with our Savior either by death or by rapture. But what do we all do, Christian or non-Christian until something changes.

We read AND UNDERSTAND Genesis 1:2. Let’s look at it again. 2” And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

Now understand that God had already created the Heaven and the earth in verse 1. So, we have both of those already at this point. But now the earth was just a bunch of darkness upon the face of the earth. In other words, there was nothing. And that nothing contained a lot of darkness. Just like our world, our family’s, our life’s, and our churches. Sometimes it feels like there is nothing but darkness. But look at this…

I. God was PROTECTING

Even when the earth was dark, cold (remember not sun yet), deep (remember no land yet), the Bible says, And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. God was literally hoovering, and moving over that dark, cold, and deep water. He was protecting what belonged to Him. It all belongs to Him. And because He loved everything He made, He wanted to make sure it was protected. Have you ever tried to mess with a baby birds’ nest, or try to pet a baby bear in the woods? It may look like momma or dad isn’t around. Things are all quiet and it looks like they are all alone and no one cares but try to walk up to a baby bear or take a nest out of the tree and you will find out quickly that momma bear and momma bird are around watching your every move. I promise you’re getting ready to be attacked. This is just like our God. It may seem as if He is not around for us, saved or unsaved, it doesn’t matter. Our God wants to protect His “Waters”. Let me just say right here. “Amen brother David. You go ahead! Yes sir.” The God of this world even before the sun was created. Before God even created man, He was right there protecting what belonged to Him. If you’re a Christian, this should make you shout. And if you’re a non-Christian, this should at least make you understand how much He loves you and wants you. God was in perfect form that day practicing what He would do for all of time. It was dark but God still moved. It is dark and God is still moving. Praise The Lord.
