Romans 12:1-2

IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

There are 11 people hanging onto a rope that comes down from a helicopter: 10 are blondes, and one is a brunette.

They all realize that the rope is not strong enough to hold everyone, so they decide that one person must jump off, or the rope will break and everyone will die. Nobody can decide who should go, so finally, the brunette delivers a very touching, courageous speech about sacrifice, ending with the words, “I’ll get off.” The blondes are so moved by the brunette’s bravery that they all start clapping.

Wow. Now that is courage at its best. Am I right? When better jokes are made, better jokes will be told. Moving right along…

Last week we started looking at the fact that when we get saved God shows us a closet with a closed door. This closet holds God’s true will for everyone that has accepted Him as personal Savior. In other words, God’s chosen path or work He wants us to do for Him and Him alone. Something specific. We see the door but cannot enter without the keys. God holds these keys. And He will not give us the keys until we are ready to accept what’s behind the door wholeheartedly. The sad thing is most Christians will never open their closet door the entire time on this earth. They will live their life without having anything to do with their closet.

I remember the day I opened my closet. It took me many years to conclude that there was more to my life than just being saved. God begin to call me to my closet about two years after I was saved at sixteen. God was working in my life. Cleaning me up from the inside out and then He wanted to show me my closet. But I wasn’t willing to ask or receive the keys. I was scared as to what God wanted to do in my life. I didn’t have the courage. People would make fun of me. Beneath this composed exterior lies a heart that is also capable of being affected emotionally. Don’t laugh. I remember I was so scared. But finally, one day eighteen years later, I was done hiding. I told God I wanted the keys to my closet. I opened my door and there it was. God wanted David to be one of his preacher boys. Can I just say that was one of my best decisions. I have been so much Happier. I not only opened my door, but I also made God number one in my life for the first time. He can never be the most important thing in someone’s life until that closet is opened.

So how does this all start. It starts with having the COURAGE to…

I. PURSUE Gods will.

Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.

Do you really care about finding what God has for just you in your life. I guess if you don’t, I am simply wasting your time. But if you do, don’t waste any more time. Pursue after it. “Pursue” means to follow someone with the aim of catching them. Do you really want to catch Gods will for your life? Do you want it more than anything else right now? Pursue it and don’t ever stop. I promise you won’t regret it. I haven’t. As a matter of fact. If you ever do regret it, I will personally send you your money back with this subscription you have with rootentruth.org. That’s my promise. Can I ask you something? Are you all in?

It’s almost Sunday. I will be in church. Will you?
