The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me...

I know what just happened. You just saw the above verse, you breezed through it and thought. Oh. Okay. Well, that is a nice verse. STOP!! Now I want you to go back and READ IT AGAIN. Read it word for word. I want you to do it one more time. Have you seen it now? Does it seem a little different than the first time you seen it? This is what we call critical thinking. The act of understanding something deeper. When it comes to understanding God and the Bible, we must read over and over to obtain more of what both are trying to tell us. That is one reason I believe that every Christian must keep the Word of God in their heart by reading it daily. And not just reading it but really reading it.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

This verse has really helped me recently in so many ways. If I am being honest with you my journey has been hard at times lately. Leaving the Bus ministry behind to go into Evangelism has at times been overwhelming. Something I have done for the last fifteen years and so thoroughly enjoyed has taken a different path. As I try to follow Gods direction it sometimes can be a bumpy road. I wonder if God really cares? Does God still love me? How about this one? Did I do something wrong? These are all questions that can go through anyone’s mind.

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

But when we read what God thinks in our above verse, we see Gods heart. Go, ahead. Read it again. First, I see that the Bible says “The Lord…” This tells me who is going to do something. I do not know about you, but God is the only person I would want to move like this in my life. If there is something that is going to be extra extraordinary done in my life, I want people to know that God, did it. Not me or man.

The second thing we see is what will happen. “The Lord will perfect.” It is a reminder that you do not need to work so hard or worry about making everything happen on your own. God knows exactly what He is doing. And His will for you is all He is trying to accomplish. Oh, how we forget that God is in control of our life. We are still in the palm of His hand. And who can pluck us out?…

And then third we see in this verse who he is speaking too. “Which concerneth ME.” Wow. Do you see it? God is talking to whoever is reading the verse. That is amazing to me. God did not leave anyone out. The word me includes every person that will ever open the Bible and read the words. This absolutely blows my mind. Me means ANYONE who reads! In fact, David who wrote the above chapter also wrote this in Psalm 57:2 “I will cry unto God most high: unto God that performeth all things for me.”

Being a Christian is an exciting time even when things are tough. Just knowing that God has this my friend is enough to make us all want to say Amen! So go ahead, read it again and just shout a while. God is so good to us.
