Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
Flowers, money, chocolate, more money, dinner out, even more money, babysitter, and then you do not have money. Waiting for the next pay day to come. Does that seem familiar? Well, if it does that is because once again, we all fell victim to the Valentines Holiday made up by chocolate companies and florists. Is this you today? Or did you feel the benefits of it all? Hopefully, you were the latter. Husbands, to you I say one word. Overtime for the next month. Of course, there are times when showing our love, just not saying it is especially important.
That is what our verse above is telling us. Now John, as a saved man is speaking to the saved people. And he tells us that words are not enough. We need some action to go along with those words. He says “In deed and in truth.” Notice that. He says through your deeds the truth can be spoken. Other words, through your actions will show you if the world is really in your heart. What is in the heart will always come out. Remember that.
So can I share with you one simple truth that we can share. Two words…
Church Attendance. Most people may not think about it or even realize it, but you put importance in order by the move you make on Sundays. Not ours, But Gods Day. When you make that decision, you are saying that I love God enough to get my family out of bed and be in my place. Let me give you two things about Gods house…
Church is not buildings but people. It is you and it is me. But if you never attend regular services then how can it transform you or help you? How can you say you love Jesus but do not love the things he loves. And the Bible says that God died for the church. So how can you say you love Jesus, but church attendance just is not important you. Remember. John said in DEED!
But hear me with this next one. Church is just not about the people. But it is all about God and what he has done for us. Our focus on Sunday should not be focused on our friends, loved ones, or even the Pastor. But it should all be about God. Sundays should be about getting our cups full so we can make it through another week in this sinful world. When the pastor gets through praying after the invitation and dismisses everyone is first thought should be to turn to someone close and tell them what they got from the service that day. Not where we are going to eat afterward and with who. Think about that. As soon as he says amen the entire day is out the door because we fill our minds with stuff that just does not matter much at that time. Church is so important. I was saved because of church, I was called to preach because of church, I joined the bus ministry because of the church, my family is going to Heaven because of the church and to God be the Glory church has done the same for you or even more. Church is a wonderful thing.
So tomorrow, will love move you to get up and attend church? I hope so. I promise you will not regret going. I will be there!
