Job 3:23-26

IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS

23 Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in? 24 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters. 25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. 26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

How often did you say “WHY” this week? Go ahead, think about it. Was it 10, 20, or even fifty times? Individuals with children may encounter this phrase more frequently. Let us just be real. Probably heard it a thousand times. WHY. This seems to be a universal word that is often used. I remember growing up and everything I wanted to ask was why. I did not understand the word NO. If my mom and dad’s answer was no, I wanted to know why. Of course, they always said the same thing. I bet you can guess what that was. “Because I said so” was their answer. Now stay with me here mom and dads. Do really think that is the appropriate answer. Do you know what that means? It means ask again and find out what it means. Wow. I hated it as a child, and I love it as a parent. I could not wait till I had kids just so I could say those words to my kids. “No, just because.” What a life as a parent.

As previously noted, the term “why” appears to have been utilized since the earliest periods of human history. Remember in Genesis 3 when Satan came along to temp Eve in the Garden of Eden. She herself was asking in her heart WHY. We as God’s creation begin to outthink God. It is all about what we think. But Eve was not the only one. In our above verses Job was another person who questioned. He questioned why he was even born. We of course understand the reason Job went through all that he did. God allowed it simply to remind Satan he is still God. But Job had no idea why. And in our time on this earth the age-old question still rings true almost every day of our life. We want to understand why this is happening in our life or to someone we love.

I would like to give you an answer to this today. But I would like to give you an answer that maybe you will not expect. Of course, I could say that these things happen because of self-infliction. It was our fault. Not God’s. I could say that it is an attack from the Powers of Hell. The Devil is still our enemy fighting to take us down. Or I could say this is to make us a stronger Child of God. What does not kill us makes us stronger. But those are just some of the easier answers. Allow me to give you my answer for today. And here it is.

“Just Because.” There are going to be things that you do not understand in this life. And you will never understand until Heaven is your home. And then you can ask God yourself. You see we are God’s children, and He is our Father. And what He wants us to know is that He may not ever give us a reason, but He has everything under control. He knows and sees things that we cannot. Some answers we cannot manage in this world. So why not just let Him be in control. Our business is His business. But His business is not our business. So today maybe the questions need to be silent while we just depend on God knowing what is best for us. He has never failed yet. And all God’s people said…
