PSALM 130:5

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

“I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.”

A little boy named Johnny, who had been sent to his room for misbehaving. After a while, the boy came out and told his parents that he had thought over his behavior and said a prayer. His mother was pleased. She said, “Good job! If you ask God to help you behave well, He will help you.” Johnny replied, “Oh, Mom. I did not ask God to help me behave. I just prayed that He would give you more patience to put up with me.”

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

Ever feel like you just need hope to make it through the day? I am sure this boy’s mom would think so. And I am sure this boy even feels like he needs a little hope some days. On even given day this one word is what will make or break our day, week, month, or even year. And honestly even our life. I read a report this week that said 89 percent of Americans admitted that hope was the one thing they needed every day to function. Another person has said, “Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air…but only one second without hope.”

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

I think it is crazy that Gods creation will admit that hope is a strong need in their lives but there are so many complications in this world. So many problems, and so many people that are living without true joy in their hearts. Medications and Doctors take the place of that. TV shows, schools, and even politicians control when hope is given and taken and to whom. It is as if no one controls it except a few certain people. But that is not real hope. Hope does not have uncertainty tied to it. Hope declares victory despite your world falling in around you. Hope picks you back up when you have fallen. Every person deserves hope.

In our above verse it tells us the author of this hope. The Lord is the beginning. This all started the day God said, “In the beginning God.” That is when hope started, and God did that. And do you know when it ends? It does not for those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their savior. For you that has not truly done that it ends the moment you die. There will be no more hope for you. That same hope that started in Genesis 1:1 will not always be there for everyone. Only for those who have accepted Him.

So, what is the key for true Hope for anyone? Look at the last part of our verse above. “In His word do I have hope.” How important is this? The Bible also says this “for Thou hast magnified Thy word above all Thy name.” Psalm 138:2. His Word is greater than His name. This absolutely blows my mind. The same God that has always given us hope that can be read and seen by all people. Saved or unsaved. No matter the color, creed, financial situation, or status quo. He gives us Hope through his word.

So today no matter who you are, no matter your state of mind, the Key to hope is before you. God’s word. The Bible. So why not pick it up today and allow God to give you something to get you through another day. Thank God for my Hope. And Thank God for your Hope.
