Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
After moving to a rural area a mother wanted to ensure her three year old daughter knew how to handle an emergency as they had no close neighbors. She taught her daughter how to call 911 and then decided to test her. “OK what would you do if you found me on the floor and you couldn’t wake me up”? The little girl thought very hard processing the gravity of the situation after a moment her eyes lit up and she finally said “I would go into the kitchen and eat anything I want”.
For many people this is life for them. They like the Burger King life. You know. Have it your way. And if we all are being honest this is a natural human response or reaction to life. For an unsaved this desire is one of a natural response. Nothing wrong with it because it is ok. The only person they live for is themselves. So why not have the attitude that it’s all about me and everyone else comes second. I get it. What more do they really have except their self absorbed thoughts that are in their mind and head. Life is all about what they make of it. Good or bad.
But for Christian’s that have accepted Jesus Christ into their heart it’s different. We know no longer live for self but we live for an almighty God that saved us by his mercy and grace. In other words it’s all about him. Now I will admit that it took me awhile to come to that conclusion for myself. I was saved at 16 years old but it took me a little longer to understand that my life did not count for myself but it counted for him. The one that has blessed me so much in my life. After I fully understood this concept of putting Christ first in my life it affected my Wife and my kids. It affected my job, my work ethic, my church, my bus ministry and it changed my life forever.
When we do what we can control as a child of God, God will do what he wants in our life and homes. In our church’s and in our finances. In fact God tells us in the above verse that “I will do my pleasure”. Not ours. But His. He will fulfill his purpose. Maybe it’s time that we stop trying to do what we want and just concentrate a little bit more on putting God first in everything we do and say. And maybe we need to understand a little bit more about how sovereign God really is. After all, he did create the heavens and the earth. He did send his only son down to this earth to born so that His pleasure could go on. And by the way, you was created for his pleasure. He made you because you was perfect in his eyes.
So as we end another year, and another month. The beginning of the end, God wants you to remember that He is still God. And He will do ALL His pleasure. None other can do that. And all God’s people said…
