Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
An older couple were having memory problems, so they went to the doctor. The doctor advised them to write things down to help them remember. That night after they went to bed the old man got up to get ice cream, and the old lady asked him to get her some too. He said OK and she asked if he was going to write it down. He said, “No I can remember that!” He had gone for a long time and when he came back, he handed his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She said: See! I told you to write it down. I wanted OJ with mine!
Oh boy. The joys of getting older. This will certainly be me and my wife someday. The only difference will be I will be asking for Mountain Dew, and she will be asking for the Ice Cream. And I guess we will both settle for eggs. At least we can do it together.
December is here now. Only 18 more shopping days. The beginning of the end of your budget. It is also the beginning of the end of another year. Where have the days gone? How often do we say that. Time just seems to slip away faster. But as time goes away more memories are obtained or kept. We call this remembering. To me it is amazing the older you get how you can remember the past so much more. For instance, the couple above could not remember what happened five minutes ago. But I promise they could tell you what happened twenty years ago. Why is it God allows people to remember things from so long ago but not something as much when it just happened.
I call your attention to the above verse. Like last week’s verse God again calls for us to REMEMBER. If you recall last week the very first word in verse eight was REMEMBER. When God says it the first time it is important. When God repeats something, it carries special significance. God here wants us to look back on something. To remember the past. God is calling our attention to remember again.
He says REMEMBER that “I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me”. Isaiah pinned these words experiencing God in many ways already. Just like you and I have experienced God. Recall that last time God answered your prayers? The last time God helped you through that hard time. How about when God saved you? Or called you into a specific ministry role. In my Christian life I have experienced absolute miracles that only God can get the Glory for. And that’s the way I like it. When people can look at something and say only God could have done that. Have you had those experiences? Can you look back and REMEMBER those?
It can be easy to look at man or self for past things, but God has always been. Before there was a Heaven, there was God. Before there was an earth. There was God. Before there was darkness, there was God. Before there were waters, there was God. Before there was light, there was God. Before there were land, there was God. Before there was a sun there was God. Before there was a moon, there was God. Before there were animals, there was God. And I want you to especially remember this one. BEFORE THERE WAS MAN, THERE WAS GOD. He said REMEMBER “I am God, and there is NONE like me.
The beginning of the end is just a call for us to REMEMBER. “In the beginning God…
