Genesis 22:2

IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS

2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. 5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

In today’s world it is hard to find or get a five-star review anymore. AI defines a five-star review as the following: A five-star review is an assessment indicating a product, service, or establishment is of the highest quality, exceeding expectations and providing exceptional value. It is the top rating on a five-point scale, used to signify a flawless or nearly flawless experience, with specific details about what made it outstanding.

Now allow me to give you my definition of a five-star review. In my view, a five-star review means the following: You will smile at me to let me know you acknowledge I am there. You will promise to keep Mountain Dew flowing even though my glass is not currently empty. You go out of the way to entertain my corny jokes no matter how bad they are. And even when I ask if I can make changes to a menu item you just smile and say, “Anything is possible.” And do not let me forget about trying to find something in the store. Instead of telling me the isle it is on, you simply say “Let me show you.” These are the things that are beyond the call of duty. You know, the Five-star things of life. It is just simply about the attitude in which we do things.

The story of Abraham and his son Issac classify all that is right about Christianity. My Christianity is not my religion. It is my relationship with my Savior that died for me so I would not have too. It is about loving Him more and wanting to give and do more every day of my life. Why? So, I can please Him. I sure want Jesus to be proud of me.

Abraham was just the same. God was so good to Abraham and his wife. He gave them both a child they never thought possible. And they loved Issac so much. Probably too much if that is possible. I imagine Issac was that kid that received about anything he wanted. But the day come when God told Abraham to go and sacrifice the gift in which He had given. The day came when God would see how much Abraham loved Him. Do you see the relationship here? Not a religion. A true relationship in which both parties deeply care. Abraham did exactly as God had told him. But I cannot help but notice three verses later. The Bible says that Abraham told his men with him to wait there. He and Issac were going to WORSHIP. Now get this today… Abraham knew what was getting ready to happen. He was getting ready to kill the thing in his life that was so precious. We can probably say it was the number one thing on this earth to him. Completion was now just around the corner. Can you imagine the three-day trip? What must have been on the mind of Abraham. But he said we are going to worship. Can I tell you this one thing today from this story that I see? Abraham took the best thing he had (Issac) and went to worship. Issac was his world and yet He loved God so much he wanted to give a five-star performance that day. He gave God his best. Can I say that again? Abraham did not hold back anything; he gave his best in worship.

Tomorrow is Sunday. It is the day that we will go to worship. I wonder. Will you bring your best? Will you give all of you? Tithing is a form of worship. Will you give your all. Preaching, singing, prayer. All of these are worship and more. Will you even be in attendance? I wonder how much we bring to God when it is worship time. If God were to give us a review. I wonder what He would rate us at. Would it be a five-star review? Only you and God can answer that. God help me and God help you. We have fallen short.
