Isaiah 49: 15-16

IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS

15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

I have learned as I get older and wiser that there are some things in life that are just impossible to remember. For instant, all these crazy passwords that they tell us is for security reasons. It works so well that not even the person that made up the passwords can remember what they are. Lord, we need help.

And then they want us to change them every 90 days. Are you kidding me. Not to mention no password can be the same. I sure hope it’s not just me. Please do not tell me if it is.

I recall one time we went out to eat with my family and my mom and dad. We pulled out of two different cars and were just all talking across the parking lot. When we got to the door of the restaurant, I suddenly realized that we were short, one kid. It makes math easy because we only have two. A moment of panic set in before going back to the car and realizing that no one let Makayla out of the back seat. But it is ok. The car door was locked. All good here.

We all have our stories of forgetting things in life. Some small and some Big. When I read the above verse, it hit me there are things that cannot be forgotten about. How about our GREAT Salvation. I know I can’t ever forget that. At sixteen God came into to my life by me just asking Him too. I remember the day I was married, and my two girls were born. Even though I left them in the car a few times I still remember when they were born. Some things you just cannot forget.

But what really hit me with this verse is those things we forget. There are so many to name but what about this one. We forget our own prayers to God. I really want you to get this. We pray and ask God to do something in our life but then we just forget about it. In other words, God begins to answer us but then we wonder what is going on. Why is God doing this or we try to find something wrong with what God is trying to do. He is simply trying to answer your prayers. But we forget that we even asked Him for that special something for our life. We ask him to help us to grow, so He sends the storm in our life. We ask Him to solve a problem, so He moves you away from it. We ask for healing for our family, so He brings in a small olive branch. All these things may not be exactly what we want all at one time, but God is answering. Why is He answering? “yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” God could not forget if He wanted too. Look at the next verse. The Bible says “I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me. What do we do when we desperately need to write something down and we cannot find paper? We write it on the palm of our hand. And that is what God does when you make a request. It gives me comfort to know when I ask God for something He doesn’t forget. But oh, how we forget.
