Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of physical structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses and to serve as a beacon for navigational aid for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways.
Lighthouses mark dangerous coastlines, hazardous shoals, reefs, rocks, and safe entries to harbors; they also assist in aerial navigation.
Now that is the BORING definition of a lighthouse by Wikipedia. Please hold while I wake myself up…………
Ok, I am back. Now allow me to give you the David definition of a lighthouse. It is a Big Ole light used to direct someone or something to a specific place or area. See, that is much better. This light is a guiding light to escape someone from danger. Lighthouses are rarely used today due to technological advances, but this morning I want to discuss their relevance to us.
This has been one of those challenging weeks where everyone has just simply been grumpy. I have found myself trying to hold in my inner HULK that wants to come and demolish people. And it would make me feel better for at least a moment. But then I stop long enough to hear the Holy Spirit remind me “David, remember who you are.” I am a born-again Christian. And as a born again Christian when Christ came into my heart, He changed me. Made me different from the rest. Not that I will never get angry. Jesus often felt anger, but it is important to manage it as He did.
In the above verse it needs to remind us that we are simply different. We are no longer as the World, and we are no longer of this world. We have been bought and paid for. Therefore, it is up to us to shine a light upon this world that leads them back to something. And that something is Jesus Christ. Our light is shining brightly so that others can be kept from a burning Hell. We should be drawing them away from this. Lighthouses may be a relic to some but to a Christian our lighthouse should be burning strong today.
And I like the last part of the verse that says, “And glorify your father which is in Heaven.” People getting saved makes our Savior so Happy. So go out this weekend and let your lighthouse shine so that our Savior can be Glorified. HULK and Light do not belong in the same sentence.
