JOSHUA 5:13-15
IT’S ALMOST SUNDAY DEVOTIONS
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? 14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant? 15 And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?
We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.
All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.
In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.
There seems to be those days when you just need a little bit more than normal. Days when you need more food or more water to get through. Maybe more understanding by others or more love from a spouse or parent. I am sure everyone has had the days or weeks that feel like it is harder than others. The good news is you are not alone. I do not care who you are, every person experiences this. It is called being human. God gave emotions and feelings. Age, height, size, rich, poor, saved or unsaved. It does not matter. These days will hit us even if we are ready for them or not.
So how do you handle these days? What do you do to get through? I believe we all have our different ways. Some take out frustrations on others even if they do not mean it too. Some run, work out, or just go in the backyard and scream. Some complain all day, some cry all day. Me, I go home and take two Advil PM and go to sleep. Forget about it through the night hopefully. There needs to be a healthy way to deal with it all for everyone. But what about those days when none of this works? What then?
This is where Joshua in the Bible comes in. Here is what I saw this week through this man of God. When Joshua takes over for Moses after his death and even before, we see that God talks to him several times but not until the verses above do we see an appearance of God’s Glory to him. The children of Israel have now passed over Jordan and the real headache has come Joshuas’s way. The more difficulties, the more encouragement would come from God. The greater a touch from Heaven. And I want you to notice what the Savior had in His hand. The Bible said a sword was drawn in His hand. Do you see it? The sword was not in its sheath; He had it out ready to go. He was ready to fight before the children of Israel.
God has not forgotten about you. When He comes to you in a personable way He comes ready for whatever is needed. Cheer up today. God’s people should be the only ones that should be happy. When you need Him, He is there. It is through these hard days that you will get your touch from Heaven. Right on time. Every time. To God be the Glory. Preach on.
