Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

One of the things I must admit as a Christian and even a preacher is the fact that when you get saved the challenges of life still come upon us. The Bible says the sun shall set on the just and the unjust. In other words, it does not matter where your heart is, we shall all face those hard days. And if we are being honest, you would think that Gods people would get a pass with some of those days. There will be fewer bad days and more good days. And of course, as a child of God its always better because our end game is different than the person that has not accepted God. But until that day comes, we ALL will spend our days, months and even years going through those bad days.

I have been reading in my daily Bible devotions about the children of Israel and how they went through all those troubling days coming out of Egypt. Trying to visualize everything they went through. And every step of the way God guiding them along their way. Try to imagine yourself there and how you would feel. After all. We are just flesh and blood, just as they were. They had their bad days and good days.

I think of my days in the Bus ministry that I still cherish so much. Those days were such a blessing to me yet at the same time they caused me a lot of pain many times. Many times, just trying to handle everything was challenging. But I had a great friendship with the previous Bus director of many years, Brother Eddie Butts. He was always someone I could talk to because he understood the challenges that came with dealing with such a large ministry. I did not even have to say anything, but he always knew when something was bothering me. He would walk up and say “Bus Director, what’s on your mind today” And here it would come. I would unleash more than he wanted to hear, I am sure. But he always would end up with the same words. He would say “God is still good.” Bro. Eddie is in Heaven now. I had the privilege of doing his funeral along with my Pastor. And for some reason this week I have thought a lot about my friend and those words he spoke to me many times.

I have no clue who I am talking to this morning. Why is this on my mind today? I do not even know if anyone will read this. But I say to you that God is still good. He loves you and me and cares deeply about what we are all going through. He cares so much that He says it “Endureth for all generations.” In otherwards it never ends. You may be experiencing hurt, pain, trouble, worriedness, or even loneliness but God is right there. And He can handle it all. Let us just turn it over to Him today. Because Bro. Eddie is looking down from Heaven and saying these words “God is still good.
