Psalm 138:8

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

The older I get the more I feel like I forget more. I have been looking for a set of truck keys for two weeks now. And I cannot find them anywhere. I have retraced my steps several times, I have blamed it on everyone that was not even there, and I have even prayed that they would mysteriously just show up one day. Well, I can report that as of today they are still missing, and I am still looking.

Is a Public Defender Good Enough?

My key Delima reminds me of the above verse. What a great reminder for us to remember. The writer of course here is Apostle John. Here John is writing to those who have trusted Christ as their savior. Saved people. He is giving advice, expressions of love, and warnings from his eyes. John is simply a tool that God is using as the Bible is being written.

We now live in an era where, through Jesus, God wants to reveal and manifest himself to the world. In this era, God’s manifested presence is not meant to be rare or uncommon. It’s meant to be poured out everywhere. It’s meant to be a regular occurrence for believers to experience His presence manifested among us.

All these things uphold our freedom in Christ and allow for us to experience God’s manifested presence. Until Christ returns let’s keep walking in these things and in our assignment to help as many as we can to find and experience the freedom we have in Christ.

In the Old Testament God revealed and manifested himself at different times, but generally it was limited to a few and limited to one nation – Israel. In the New Testament we see that through Christ, God has chosen to manifest and pour out His Spirit on all people, from every nation whether young or old.

John goes on to say this… “Let us love one another.” So, who is one another? Christian loving another Christian? Family loving family? Church loving church? Preacher loving preacher? No matter who you place in this category, is it the wrong answer? Can I tell you what I believe? I am not worried as much about who. But it does concern me that I think we have forgotten how to love. In this case it is like me losing my keys. I did not mean for it to happen. It just happened one day. And I have tried to recreate my old movements to find them again, but it just seems like it is not helping. Just like the love that John tells us about. One day we just lose it and cannot seem to re-create it again. We forget how to love one another.

So how do we find this love again? Well, we find our answer in the very next words after “love one another.” And it says this “for love is of God.” Sometimes it is hard to understand the love of God. But Gods love is unconditional, unmoving, unashamed, unafraid, undeniable, unbeatable, unbelievable, unbroken, unchangeable, uncontrollable, and can I just say Gods love is UNAPOLOGETIC. This is the love of God by Him toward us. And He tells us that we can have the same love. Why? Because we know Him. This is something to stop and shout about for a while. We have what God has because we belong to Him.

I do not believe that our love for each other has gone away. I just think we have lost it somewhere along the road and now it is time to go back and find it. It is still there because God said it is. Have we lost our love? NO. We have merely just lost it somewhere and now it is time to find it.

Dear God. I pray for me first that you will bring that love that I need to have for my fellow brothers and sisters. Help me to first admit and then find the areas of my life that you would like to fix to make me what you want me to be. And then I pray for anyone that may be struggling with finding this love again. Take us back to where we lost it and help us to establish it again. How can we love a lost and dying world when we cannot even love each other correctly? God, please forgive where we have not even kept your commandments. Something as simple as loving each other.
